The Sports Rights Owners Coalition has, along with over 600 organisations from across the audiovisual sector, lent its support to a statement that “urges the European Parliament to cast a vote in favour of culture on 13 December 2023 by opposing the call for future inclusion of audiovisual services in the scope of the EU Geo-blocking Regulation”. The signatories believe that rejecting the call in the Parliament’s draft Own Initiative Report on the topic for future inclusion of audiovisual services in the Geoblocking Regulation is “a vote in favour of preserving Europe’s cultural and linguistic diversity”.
